It’s hard to find ways to exercise children within the confines of your home. Especially if the weather is bad or you don’t have a garden, or the space they usually use is taken up by a hastily assembled home office. Here are a few incredible resources. Even our 18 month old has been joining in, and merrily being entertained for at least 20 minutes at a time.
Yoga for toddlers
Cosmic Kids has already become a firm favourite in our house. There’s a whole host of 10-20 minute episodes which encompass stories, messages of hope and calm, some gentle stretching and some slightly more vigorous activity. It also adds an element of “teacher-student” instruction, which might just help some kids who are struggling with the massive transition from school to home at the moment.
P.E. Classes
Joe is a body coach who had planned to tour the UK helping schools improve their fitness classes. He’s been putting out daily live P.E. classes since 23/3/20 and the response (over 2 million views within hours) has been massive! He’s engaging and fun, and helps brighten a dreary morning.
Dance Classes
Oti Mabuse is a UK dancing celebrity who is live streaming dance classes (with the help of her husband) for kids every day to her social media channels. The videos are then saved to her YouTube channel to watch anytime. She’s fun and energetic, and there’s something very comfortable about the videos being shot all around their own home.
