Book Review: Mr Frumble’s Biggest Hat Flap Book Ever!

Mr Frumble’s Biggest Hat Flap Book Ever! is another of Richard Scarry’s funny books about his animal character’s. It’s more of a story picture book than an educational book, and is more suited to a younger age group than some of his other works.

Summary: This is primarily a picture book with ever increasing flaps on each page, outlining the tale of Mr Frumble’s hat, which blew out the window and got flattened by a wide variety of ever eccentric vehicles.

Best Thing: The detailed nonsense in the pictures. The hat has it’s own bed. Mr Frumble has a framed picture of a pickle on his bedroom wall. All his friends give him hats for his birthday.

Time to read: This is a relatively quick read, it will take around 10-20 minutes. More detail might become apparent during subsequent reads, but it still doesn’t take long to look through. There are 12 pages.

Pages: Thick card. Not quite a board book but almost. The flaps are big enough and sturdy enough for young hands to be able to open, although theoretically rippable over time.

Age Range: This is more suitable to younger toddlers, we’d suggest the 1-3 year old bracket would be the main audience.
