Book Review: The Wheels on the Ute go Round and Round

A happy Australian version of the well known song, “The Wheels on the Ute go Round and Round” is sure to delight.

Summary: Full page illustrations and a familiar rhyming structure help make this book an enjoyable and entertaining read. It follows a wombat driving his Ute to the “big bush bash”, picking up a variety of Australian animal friends along the way. It’s littered with friendly familiar Australian prose. “Hop on, mate.” The pictures illustrate happy Australian animals in classic Australian backdrops and helps children identify their native wildlife.

Best Bit: The human characteristics of the animals.

Age Range: in the younger group, useful for singing to the under 2s and still enjoyable for the 2-3 year olds.

Time to read: Ten minutes, but can be repeated immediately.

Buy or borrow: Either. For reinforcing learning of the animals it’s worth adding to the collection. If just looking for a new singalong book, borrowing is probably enough to start.
