Book Review: Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes

Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox (and beautifully illustrated by Helen Oxenbury) is an easy to read, gently rhyming book celebrating diversity and commonality.

Summary: Over the pages of this book, we are introduced to a group of babies. Differences between them are part of their introduction, while reminding with each new pair of babies we meet that there is a commonality among humans. All the babies, with their diverse origins, are all illustrated as a happy group together. Each page has 1-2 short sentences at most. There is a simple rhyming cadence to the book which makes it pleasing to read to your little one.

Pages/time to read: A few minutes, but less than 10 minutes.

Age range: Under 2s will enjoy the simple pictures with recognisable images of happy babies. This is the sort of book which might be read repeatedly to a newborn.
