Book Review: Tig and Tag

Tig and Tag is a beautifully illustrated tale of two naughty sheep, set on a Scottish island.

Summary: Two sheep on the island of Mull are raised by the farmer’s wife. They embark on mischievous outings but also look after the other sheep. As usual, Benedict Blathwayt’s full page illustrations are addictive. They really give a feel for life on a small Scottish farm. Each page contains 1-2 short sentences and is covered with striking images.

Best thing: despite being an apparently simple story with short sentences, our 2 year old has learned words such as forgiven, guests and laughter from repeated readings of Tig and Tag.

Time to read: With 32 full colour pages, Tig and Tag will take 10-20 minutes to read.

Pages: paper

Age range: Most 1-3s will enjoy.

Buy or borrow: Buy. Although we found the story of Little House by the Sea to be slightly better in terms of having a message and also showing someone who works hard.
